Aladdin, Dojo & Medication

Aladdin

Our school app is called Aladdin. This app can be used to communicate with the school e.g. send notes to teacher/parents, information updates, permissions for activities and much more.

We use Aladdin to track attendance so it is important that you put a note on the app if your child is absent, late or leaving early. The names of children who miss 20 days or more in a school year are automatically sent to the department at the end of the year in our returns. Should your child have any absences it is important that the reason is logged in case it is necessary to follow up on absences at a later date. Being in school everyday is extremely important. Illness and a one-off unavoidable absence will be inevitable so it is important that your child is in for all other days so they don’t accumulate absences. It is difficult for a child to learn if they are missing school regularly so give them good habits from the beginning by being in school on time every day.

You can download the Aladdin app to any smart phone. If you are having difficulty setting up the app an appointment can be made with our Home School Liaison teacher Helena Creedon in September and she will help you. She can be contacted on 087 2384968.

Dojo

Our online learning platform used during remote learning was Dojo. This platform is still active in the school and teachers use it to send updates re: classwork to parents. Your child’s teacher might occasionally ask for elements of homework to be uploaded to this platform. It will be important for you to log onto this platform in September.

Medication

It is important that we are aware of any medical conditions your child may have. Please ensure you come to us before the school closes in June to inform us of any medication your child may need to have administered during the school day. Administration of medication during the school day needs approval from the Board of Management and needs to be organised in advance of September. Children who have been prescribed an inhaler must have an inhaler in their school bag each day and also provide the class teacher with a full emergency inhaler at the start of the year. If your child has asthma it is vital that the school know. Even if your child rarely needs it we must have two inhalers – you never know when they might have an asthma attack and it is better to be safe than sorry.
